Breast Ultrasound
Examines the inside of female breasts. May be used in conjunction with a Doppler probe to see how fast and in which direction blood is flowing. (No sound may mean that you have a blockage in the flow).

Issues with the breast, including the flow of blood to the breasts.
Reasons for Breast Ultrasounds
Although a breast ultrasound cannot screen for breast cancer because it may not detect some early signs of cancer, a breast ultrasound can aid with other concerns.
When can a breast ultrasound be used?
- When a change is detected in a mammogram, but cannot be identified by a mammogram
- After a physical examination of the breast to detect a fluid-filled cyst or a solid tumor
